The career of Mr. Christian Petermann reflects an impressive blend of precision, expertise, and passion.
Born in Switzerland, La Chaux-de-Fonds, in 1976, he grew up in an environment steeped in watchmaking tradition and innovation, influenced by local figures such as Le Corbusier and Louis Chevrolet.
Passionated like his sources of inspiration about architecture and motorsports, Mr. Petermann chose to dedicate his talents to law, specializing in real estate and construction.
He honed his skill in drafting judgments during his trainee at the Cantonal Court. After obtaining his Bar, he founded his lawfirm in 2004, progressively expanding it in the Neuchâtel, Vaud, and Geneva regions.
Active in business administration and consulting, he gained in-depth knowledge of architecture and engineering professions.
In 2015, Mr. Petermann was appointed Judge Assessor by the Grand Council of Vaud, ensuring that owners’ interests are taken in consideration in conciliation procedures until 2019.
Similar to a three-member arbitral tribunal, the Conciliation Authority facilitates simple, rapid, and effective solutions, resolving over 80% of real estate disputes in Switzerland.
New Professional Horizons in Canada
The call of vast wilderness and a desire for an international experience convinced him to relocate to Canada in 2019 with his Quebecois wife.
In La Belle Province, Mr. Petermann broadened his network and skills in his primary areas of expertise, inspired more than ever by the North American culture of arbitration.
In 2024, he became a registered Foreign Legal Consultant with the Quebec Bar and acquired Canadian citizenship.
Today, Mr. Petermann is deeply immersed in the traditions of civil law and common law, two legal systems that blend harmoniously in national and international arbitration.
